Release Notes

What's new, improved, and fixed in Cutover.

Theme Comparison Mode & Screenshot Improvements

  • New
New Theme Comparison scan mode — compare your live Shopify theme vs a preview theme without entering the same domain twice or manually configuring query strings.
  • New
Three scan types: Two Domains (migration/replatform), Theme Comparison (live vs preview theme), and Single-site (audit one domain).
  • Improved
Shopify theme migration page now defaults to Theme Comparison mode with guided setup for preview theme ID.
  • Improved
Screenshots now automatically hide Shopify preview bar and cookie consent banners for cleaner visual comparisons.
  • Improved
Report page shows a "Theme Comparison" badge with the preview query string when viewing theme comparison scan results.

Guides & Content

  • New
New guide: How to Test a New Shopify Theme Before Launch — step-by-step walkthrough for validating theme changes with Cutover.
  • Improved
Updated Shopify theme migration page with revised recommended settings and workflow documentation.

Executive Summary & Reporting

  • Improved
Rewritten executive summary with layered verdict system — integrity issues, performance regressions, and Core Web Vitals are now evaluated independently.
  • Improved
Transient old-site failures (429, timeout, rate limiting) are now tracked separately from missing pages.
  • Improved
Absolute performance thresholds replace percentage-based regression language — small absolute changes are no longer flagged as regressions.
  • Fixed
CWV softening logic can now upgrade a mixed verdict to good when no integrity issues exist and Web Vitals are all in the Good range.

Worker Split & Job Queue

  • New
Split worker architecture — basic HTTP checks and enhanced Chrome checks can now run on separate worker instances for better resource allocation.
  • New
Job priority system — upgrade-to-enhanced jobs are processed first (priority 10) ahead of normal scan jobs.
  • Improved
New job queue routing: basic queue for HTTP checks, enhanced queue for Chrome checks, system queue for crawl and finalize jobs.
